BAMTech acquires Streaming Rights for LOL

Riot Games and BAMTech (Major League Baseball and Disney-owned streaming tech company) have signed a deal for the rights to League of Legends tournaments.

BAMTech will pay Riot Games a minimum of $300 million through 2023. It will get to monetize on the world’s most popular game as a result. They plan to launch a League of Legends app that will stream to smartphones and PCs. It will apparently also still work with the likes of Twitch and Youtube.

League of Legends is the world’s most popular video games and a juggernaut in the world of eSports. Millions of fans tune in to watch the League Championship Series and the League of Legends World Championship.  I imagine Disney saw a lot of potential to make some lucrative money on this deal, as eSports as a whole will only look to gain more popularity.

Piglet League of Legends

Also, Piglet is back with Team Liquid. LCS will be worth watching for that alone.
