Everything We Know on the Nintendo Switch

Reggie Fils-Aime went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and gave more details on the Nintendo Switch. Even Shigeru Miyamoto made an appearance! Ever since that first teaser video in October, I have been scouring the internet for any update on this new Nintendo Switch. Suffice to say I devoured all of the information I could.

Below is the complete Nintendo segment on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The first half is devoted to Super Mario Run for iOS, which looks good on its own merits.

How It Looks

In the preview Reggie uses the control pad that was shown in the original announcement video Nintendo sent out for the Switch. He played the new Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which looked great. It was hard to say for sure where the graphics prowess will be at. Will it be on par with PS4 and Xbox One, or will it be on its own little island? The last few generations Nintendo has been in, they never really competed for graphics power so it could go either way.

Reggie also showed off the continuation feature of the Switch where you can make it portable. It looked pretty seamless. I hope it works like that when it launches in March. Seeing it in Jimmy’s hands the Switch actually looks pretty portable. I was worried that it would be too big and unwieldy, but it doesn’t look too bad at all. Jimmy also showed off the kickstand. It looks like it easily folds back as well when picking the console up.

The one thing they did not go over was whether there was a touch screen or not. Rumors on this have been running rampant, and it would have been nice to get a final word on this. Alas, tonight was not the night. Nintendo is particularly elusive when it comes to protecting details of their new consoles, so maybe we’ll have better luck at their live event on January 12.

I honestly can’t wait!
